Welcome

Big Cat Conservation is a key issue that needs to be addressed in order to maintain our biodiversity. The leopard has experienced a decline of 30% over thirty years and is now listed as Near threatened by the IUCN. The lion is also under risk of a decreasing population, with a 30% population loss over the past two decades.

Unfortunately too little is being done to prevent this decreasing population trend, and extinction of these beautiful animals may be inevitable, therefore it is up to us to help prevent this.

My name is Karra Rothery and I have just graduated with a degree in zoology from Roehampton University. It is my passion to help conserve these animal species and I hope to pursue a career that researches into big cat breeding programmes, with the future intention to re-introduce them into the wild.

To follow this dream I need to gain valuable experiences in the field,
which I intend to carry out with GVI and attend a wildlife research expedition in South Africa which I will follow up with an internship.

This expedition will give me the skills to track and monitor wild animal populations, and work up close and personal wth the leopard and lion.

So please help me today, and not only allow me to follow my passion and dream, but also protect and conserve these threatened animal species.

Thankyou!
